When you are suffering from sepsis there are a set of symptoms you should be aware of. This can be difficult because the symptoms early in the disease can be vague and similar to other conditions.

These symptoms in themselves do not need to signify a serious condition but a rule of thumb is that if you experience two or more of these symptoms you should seek medical help. If you are unsure, consult the health care advisor. When you contact the health service:

Ask: Can it be sepsis?

Symptoms to be aware of

  • Confusion and slurred speech
  • Severe breathlessness
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Extreme shivering and fever
  • Elevated pulse (without a reason)
  • Severe pain and muscle weakness
  • Mottled or discolored skin
  • Low blood pressure
  • Low urine production
